Un tempo la scuola durava poco. Per i miei genitori, nati nei primi anni ’20, finiva alla quinta elementare. Per me, nata nel 1953, è stata diversa: ho studiato in Australia dai 5 fino a 15 anni. Ritornata in Italia, ho iniziato subito a lavorare per 40 anni, Invece, per i miei figli, nati a cavallo del ’70/’80 la scuola è stata la via per raggiungere la laurea.
Tutto è cambiato con l’arrivo dei miei tre nipoti, (2005, 2009,2014). Sentendoli parlare, mi sono accorta di entrare in un tunnel. Loro sono “nativi digitali”, mentre nel mio lavoro era sempre stato tutto manuale. Mi sentivo analfabeta di fronte alla tecnologia e, come dicevano i vecchi, “i giovani ci mangiano la pappa in testa”.
Così una mattina mi sono chiesta: “Perché non ritornare a scuola?”. Detto fatto! E mi sono iscritta ai corsi dell’AAAS.
Oggi non studio per fare carriera, ma per curiosità e per restare al passo con i tempi. Il digitale ormai gestisce la salute, le banche e i servizi. Studiare da adulti significa non dover dipendere da nessuno per le commissioni quotidiane.
Mia mamma diceva “chi fa per sé fa per tre”, e oggi faccio mie le sue parole.
Molti anziani si arrendono dicendo “ormai è tardi”, o “non mi interessa” ma la scuola non è un edificio per bambini: è uno stato mentale. AAAS, e L’UNIVERSITÀ DELLE TRE ETÀ traducono il presente per chi ha costruito il passato. Inoltre, imparare cose nuove dopo i 60 anni è una vera “ginnastica mentale” che mantiene il cervello giovane e combatte la solitudine.
Grazie al corso di Informatica Pratica ho imparato il linguaggio dei miei nipoti e ho trovato un nuovo modo per partecipare alla loro vita.
Adulti affrettatevi a mettere in pratica lo slogan: “PERCHÉ C’È SEMPRE DA IMPARARE” come facciamo noi AAAS..….. ed il gioco è fatto! 😉
TEMPO DI SCRUTINI:
Come tutti gli Studenti anche per noi AAAS il Professore ha preparato lo scrutinio di fine anno del laboratorio di “Informatica Pratica nell’epoca dell’Intelligenza Artificiale”, e noi eravamo entusiasti di affrontarlo.
Il risultato era di creare una slide con il link di un articolo del Professore!

Inoltre nel laboratorio di INFORMATICA abbiamo uno spazio per “LET’S SPEAK ENGLISH” e per la PROVA FINALE abbiamo fatto una simpatica “CONVERSATION” dove tutti abbiamo partecipato con la voglia di parlare e con un bel sorriso sulle labbra.

School used to be short for my parents, born in the early 1920s, it ended in fifth grade. For me, born in 1953, it was different: I studied in Australia from 5 years until I was 15 and then, returning to Italy, I immediately began working lasting 40 years. For my children,(born 2005/2009/2’14) however, school was the path to graduation.
Everything changed with the arrival of my three grandchildren. Hearing them speak, I realized I was entering a tunnel: they are “digital natives,” while my work had always been entirely manual. I felt illiterate in the face of technology and, as the elders used to say, I felt that the young people were “eating my brains out.”
So one morning I asked myself: “Why not go back to school?” And I enrolled in the AAAS adult course.
Today I don’t study for a career, but out of curiosity and to keep up with the times. Digital technology now governs healthcare, banking, and services. Studying as an adult means not having to depend on anyone for daily errands. My mother always said, “He who does it for himself, does it for three,” and today I make her words my own.
Many seniors give up, saying, “It’s too late now, or “I don’t care” but school isn’t a building for children: it’s a state of mind. Universities of the Third Age translate the present for those who have built the past. Furthermore, learning new things after 60 is a true “mental gymnastics” that keeps the brain young and combats loneliness.
Thanks to the Practical Computer Science course, I learned the language of my grandchildren and found a new way to participate in their lives.
Put the AAAS slogan into practice: “Because there’s always something to learn”… and you’re done! 😉
Like all students, the Professor also prepared the final exam for us AAAS at the end of the Practical Computer Science in the Age of Artificial Intelligence lab, and we were enthusiastic about tackling it.
The result was a slide with a link to one of the Professor’s articles.
Furthermore, in our PRACTICAL COMPUTER SCIENCE lab we have a space for “LET’S SPEAK ENGLISH” and for the Final Exam we held a fun “CONVERSATION” in which everyone participated with commitment.
